I got my first vibrator before lockdown

Hush, lucky me!

Everyone already stored their medicines, groceries, home gym accessories and other necessities because of the nation-wide lockdown. And as you all know, how everyone is horny these days. Since many couples are now into long-distance and singles are in urgent need of their pleasure endorphin booster, right?  In March, experts have also discovered that there’s a rapid spike in the sale of sex toys and people are Googling how to make homemade sex toys or websites to get sex toys online.

It’s certainly an effective way to consider self-care by enjoying orgasm and feeling less stressed during such rough times.

Here’s the story of how I was lucky to get my first vibrator just before the lockdown.

20 something woman, chaotic mind living a busy lifestyle, running a marathon, have a loving and attractive boyfriend, cool girl pals and have never owned a vibrator. Honestly, I never considered getting one. I was raised in such a household where parents were open-minded about sex (only after marriage), porn and boys masturbation. But, if someone talks about girls masturbating or sex before marriage, what is that? Is that even a thing? Why do girls need to do that?. Despite all my parents’ judgments over women masturbation, and warning about committing adultery before marriage, guess what? I lost my virginity before I turned 20 and went on the hunt to find a perfect sex toy for myself.

I went on a shopping spree, just before 2 weeks of the lockdown to Fort, in Colaba, Mumbai. I found vendors selling dildos, sexual performance enhancers, vibrators and much kinky stuff on the street. I felt super awkward and called off the plan from getting it from the street. That’s when I read about companies selling sex-toy online in India. I ventured and ordered the pale and pink colour rabbit vibrator. After 7 days, the doorbell rang! And there was my first sex toy, came inside a simple brown box, with personal care mentioned on it. Getting my first vibrator motivated me to pay more attention to my physical and mental health. I kept the vibrator tucked away in my messed up closet. Initially, I felt super guilty about using it, as I’m living with my parents and It’s very difficult to get private time. Eventually, realizing taking showers and post-workout meditation was not a daily inconvenience (if you know what I mean), I experienced zero guilt when it came to enjoying the pleasure and feeling good.

After one week of getting the vibrator, the lockdown happened. And I suddenly released, I unintentionally bought a vibrator to escape the monotony of staying at home for many days and was the lucky one to get early because sex toys are getting out of stock, due to high demand.

In a lockdown, I’m enough to spend time with myself (at least twice a week), laughing, identifying positions that make me yell, YES! YES! YES! And now I know, articulate those pleasures with my love of life when this chaos is over, guilt-free. I’m glad that I got over my awkwardness and anxiety to order my first vibrator. Needless, it has a special place in my heart. I wish sex toys are added to essential services in India so that other people who don’t have one don’t feel left out.
